Reproducing an image
I am going to be using this photo for my final image by recreating it with my own model to look exactly like this picture. I found this image on the internet from the photographers official website. The photographer is called Rockie Nolan. I like the blue tints within this photo and the bad weather gives the photo a sad feeling. I think this picture was taken by using a good quality digital camera. The photograph was taken with a person sitting in a car looking through the window with a sad expression (the person in the photograph is actually the photographer so for this image she might of used a tripod), there is water on the window to show the bad weather to give emotion. The photographer has edited the photo to give it a blue tint which makes the photo give emotion like sad or depressed. I am going to reproduce this image with my moms car and my sister while she's sitting in the car with the same pose as the model in the photo and create rain on the window with water. I'm then going to edit it in photoshop to give it the same blue tint as it does in the image. The lighting in the photograph is very dark especially at the bottom on the image as the tinted blue is dark blue, although the top half of the photo does look quite light as i think its the reflection of the sky. The composition in the photo is set in the bottom right of the photo and the whole image looks at a slight angle to show more of an angle of her face as well. The photo also looks like its slightly angled to be looking down on the shot as the model looks like she is looking downwards as well.
comparison
the image on the left is my manipulated image and the image on the right is the photographers image which he took using a special camera that creates 3D pictures. The images have been produced differently but still come out with the same 3D effect although i think the image on the right has stronger viewing and looks more 3D than my manipulated one. I like how the photographer has created the image to be a black and white 3D photograph, i think it gives a good effect and makes the image look old fashioned but at the same time modern because of the 3D within the photo.
making 3D image
open the image and duplicate the layer
change the top layers levels to the info matched below and press ok
do the same with the bottom layer but change the settings differently to match the images below
press ok and you have a 3D image:
some images work better than others with the effect, images that tend to be darker are harder to use this effect on

Photoshop Workshop (part 1/3)
Blur Border Effect
To create this effect i firstly selected the image that i wanted to use
I then selected the Rectangular Marque Tool and drew a rectangle within the image but leaving gaps at the end. I then went to Select>Inverse so that the gaps at the end were the main thing i was editing:
After i'd inverted the border i went to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and changed the settings of how strong i wanted the blur to be for the border. Here is my final outcome:

Border effect
For the border effect i selected the Rectangular Marque Tool and drew a rectangle in the centre of my chosen image leaving a small gap at the ends, i then went to Select>Inverse and clicked onto the Quick Mass Mode showing the area thats been selected better:
After i've selected the Quick Mass Mode i then went to Filter>Distort>Ocean Ripple and changed the settings of this effect to make it look good:
Once i pressed OK i clicked off the Quick Mass Mode and was left with this image:
I then used the eraser tool to get ride of the edges that were unwanted. Since the Ocean Ripple effect goes to one side more than the other i had to flip my image around and do the same steps as i did in the first section:
This time when i rubbed out the parts of the image that i didn't want the Ripples were all even on all sides of the image to create a distinctive border. Here is my final image outcome:

Spin effect
For the spin effect i did exactly the same settings at the start as i did with the zoom effect, but instead i changed the settings when i went to Filter>Blur>Radial Blur.
I changed the Blur method to 'Spin' and changed the amount of effect that i wanted. Here is my final image outcome:

Zoom effect
Firstly i opened up my image and selected the Circular Marque Tool and drew a circle in the middle of the image then inverted it.
I also changed the feathering to 150px
The second thing i did was i went to Filter>Blur>Radial blur and changed the settings to how i wanted.
Once i changed the settings to what i wanted i pressed OK. Here is my final image:

Erik Johansson
Erik Johansson is a professional photographer and retoucher from Sweden. He mostly works on personal and commercial projects.
I found Erik Johansson's work through different websites by searching 'photographers that manipulate there work'. Erik Johansson's work is very different from ordinary photos, he photoshops the images to look as though something is there when its not. Some of his photographs are even like illusions. A lot of his photographs are landscape based but also quite a few have random body parts included within the photo.
I like nearly all of the images Erik Johansson has made they look realistic and are really interesting to look through here are a few examples of his work:

Introduction
For the second part of my digital assignment I am going to be completing a series of photoshop workshops, research into historical image manipulation and produce one final image that has been produced digitally. The theme of the assignment is my choice so i am going to be creative as i can to think of a good final image outcome.
Assignment aims:
Assignment aims:
- Understand how image manipulation techniques are used in the work of others
- Be able to digitize source materials
- Be able to originate work using image manipulation hardware and software
- Be able to present own design outcomes
