Photoshop Workshop (part 1/3)

Border effect 
For the border effect i selected the Rectangular Marque Tool and drew a rectangle in the centre of my chosen image leaving a small gap at the ends, i then went to Select>Inverse and clicked onto the Quick Mass Mode showing the area thats been selected better: 
After i've selected the Quick Mass Mode i then went to Filter>Distort>Ocean Ripple and changed the settings of this effect to make it look good: 
Once i pressed OK i clicked off the Quick Mass Mode and was left with this image: 
I then used the eraser tool to get ride of the edges that were unwanted. Since the Ocean Ripple effect goes to one side more than the other i had to flip my image around and do the same steps as i did in the first section: 
This time when i rubbed out the parts of the image that i didn't want the Ripples were all even on all sides of the image to create a distinctive border. Here is my final image outcome:
